Now, the A/H5N6 bird flu has been found in many countries such as China, Laos, Germany, Sweden, United States. In China had a victim died from this virus.

In Vietnam, the A/H5N6 bird flu virus has been recorded in some of north frontier provinces of Lang Son, Lao Cai and central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Quang Ngai.

According to Veterinary Department, Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development, at present, the virus has also killed 2,013 of chickens, ducks, pheasants, and destroyed nearly 5,200 infected poultries.

During the past time, functional offices of Quang Ninh, Lang Son arrested and handled of illegally imported ten of thousands of poultry and poultry eggs through the boder.
According to Veterinary Department, risk of the new virus strain gets into Vietnam through illegally imported activities of poultry and poultry products through the boder, particularly in the North.

Therefore Minister of Agriculture and Rural Department Dr. Cao Duc Phat sent urgent telegrams to the relevant units, specially frontier provinces about prohibiting transportation poultry and poultry products with no clear origin, in the meantime, intensify animal inspection measures.
