The sky was like a stubborn, low-hanging blanket of gray. Rain hammered down in a relentless cascade, but rain or shine, I had singing class. Entering the building, I noticed the undergoing construction – hammering, drilling, the chaos. Thankfully, my classroom was quite isolated and blessed with soundproofing to some extent. Or so I thought. Mid-song, a sound of breakage pierced the air. A rogue drill bit had punched through the plywood wall separating us from the construction zone! My teacher, bless her heart, leaped a good foot in the air, while, I wasn't sure why, I just had foreseen this. Before we could actually do anything, several construction workers surged through the door, apologies tumbling out like loose nails. But frankly, no way they could fix it in time to enable us to continue the class. Staring at clattered tools, plywood panels and that big cracking hole in the wall, I couldn't help but laugh. However, my class was interrupted midway, I will continue it next week.
