Unions Unions have been over the years,very important and respected organizations. They have worked very hard in order to get the rights that now all workers enjoy. There is no question about that, but nowadays, unions are not very well considered in my country. There are many reasons for that. First of all, unions support above all,public servants. If public servants have a problem with their salaries,or with their holidays, unions will do whatever they can to help. They can even,call a strike for that. However, if other workers have the same problems they will do nothing about that. Besides, there have been some cases of corruption within those organizations. In one of those cases, the Government gave money to the unions for some training for unemployed people, and in the end they kept almost all the money and didn´t do the training. Moreover, the union chiefs are unable to acknowledge that their organizations need fresh air,new people and new ideas. They don´t accept that because if the unions were renewed, the chiefs would be the first to leave. With more than five million people out of work,many of them for more than two years, it´s no wonder that people don´t believe in unions.
