Altruism The reading passage defines altruism as a true meaning of sacrifice because, animals jeopardize their own security in order to help others. This behavior is illustrated with a groups of meerkats where an individual has the function of being a sentinel, in other words it has to be on guard to prevent the members of the group from a predator that is moved toward them while the others meerkats are looking for food. The alarm is usually a cry. On the other hand, there are animals that work together to defend themselves from predators. The lecture provides more information on the topic by giving examples one of them is Altruism in humans, it can be illustrated with a donating of a kidney to relative or even to a stranger. The altruistic acts give a feeling of appreciation or approval instead of something material . Some people believe that this kind of rewards are very valuable.
