Wedding culture in Indonesia part 2 - Costs, Foods and Dances. Like I wrote in previous entry, wedding parties in Indonesia are usually held at large venues like front yards of private houses. Someone asked me "What happen if it rains". well, if we want to hold wedding party in outdoor places the wedding organizer usually provides a tent. There are two ways how the party is held, modern party or traditional party. The cost itself is very various, it depends on how the party is held whether simple party or luxurious party. Traditional wedding parties images : http://goo.gl/OXP5gQ I have two married brothers and if I'm not mistaken, we spent almost 9.000 to 10.000 USD for my first brother wedding party and 7.000 to 8.000 USD for my second borther wedding. Why my first brother wedding was more expensive than my second one it was because my first brother wedding was held at government building and the second one at our home. Hmm talking about wedding party costs, there is a Indonesian celebrity who just held their wedding party and it was cost 83.1671 USD. Sounds like a large number, isn't it? I wont judge the wedding costs but to be honest what I didn't like from their wedding, it was because the wedding was aired lively for more than couple of hours by local TV. I think using a public networks for private party is really a bad idea. Food, hmmm let's talk about food. Since there are many cultures in Indonesia so there are plenty of foods are usually served in traditional parties so I think I'm going to talk about the general one : 1. Corned Beef. 2. Fried chicken. 3. Beef Satay. http://goo.gl/KnyhUo 4. Rendang. http://goo.gl/M20beP 5. Fried heart sauce (I'm not sure what it called in english, but the local name is sambal goreng ati). 6. The jerky balado. http://goo.gl/TiWXn4 7. Hodge Podge. http://goo.gl/L3FR99 8. Cap cay or Cap cai. http://goo.gl/vE0B0i For local dances are usually danced in wedding parties are : 1. Gatotkaca Gandrung dance. http://goo.gl/OMcE5A 2. Silat dance. http://goo.gl/ea6Iik 3. Bedaya Manten. http://goo.gl/46usiL
