Gyeon Hwon rebelled; seized the city of Wansan and self proclaimed to be the Later Baekje. Silla saw its territories incurred and pared away and ultimately led to its demise. Notes: 1. In this context, it means the northern capital and not Beijing which also means the northern capital. 2. 萱堂 "Lily of the Hall" is an honorific and very formal term for mother. 樁萱隸萼 is a colorful and formal term for parents and siblings. 樁 is a legendary ancient tree. 萱 grows in the warmer west side, usually the women's quarters in a traditional housing layout. 隸 means "attached" and 萼 is the calyx.
