What does "I fought head on with it." mean? A woman had been attacked by a leopard. She said: "I thought I was dead but I did not lose patience and courage....I fought head on with it." She stabbed the leopard and smashed some of its teeth.

Yes, it means facing your opponent directly. We have the expressing 'fighting/going head to head' with someone. We can also talk about facing problems and challenges 'head on' in the sense of 'directly'.
