The Agbar Tower changes the lighting first with the quarter and after the stroke What does it mean? Our family have plans to spend New Year Eve in Barcelona, Spain. I’ve heard of Spanish custom to eat 12 grapes at midnight, one on each chime of the clock. So we have to choose where to go – to Plaza Cataluna eat grapes or to Agbar Tower to see the Lighting show. For me, I prefer Lighting show, but also want to eat grapes and make wishes. Can it be combined? Does that phrase mean the Tower changes the lighting each second during first 12 seconds of the year? I not completely sure about “first with the quarter”, what does this mean?

Most Spanish speaking countries have the "12 grapes" custom. You eat one each time the bell rings (starting the second the new year starts) while making a wish for each grape you eat. You don't really have to be in a specific place to do this. You can take with you 12 grapes and do it at the light show, I bet other Spanish people would do that too at the lightshow... If you really want to do it, it doesn't matter where. In all my life I haven't heard of a specific regulation for that custom. I've done it at gala dinners, at the sea, at home. Doesn't really matter...
