Hard to understand the "their" in a sentence... ~This is a paragraph. :) Certain phrases one commonly hears among Americans capture their devotion to individualism: "You'll have to decide that for yourself." "If you don't look out for yourself no one else will." "Look out for number one." "Be your own best friend." Whom does the "their" in the first sentence refer to?? :D Thank you!!!!! :D

It's used normally - "their devotion" = "the devotion of Americans"
