[Who’s Wonstein? Is he next Zion.T?] As many Korean hip-hop fans may know, the ninth season of “Show Me The Money” is on air. Whether you like or dislike this TV show, it is drawing much attention from the public as usual. In line with the success of the show, many contestants, who were relatively unknown before, are gaining popularity and rising to fame as well. But who is and will be the biggest winner of this show at the end? This person has: long, shiny hair; big brown eyes; and Kim Tae-ri looking face (Drum roll) It’s Wonstein! With the aforementioned looks that obviously stand out, Wonstein is a rapper who shines in both rapping and singing. Particularly, in my opinion, he’s reminiscent of Zion.T in many ways.  For example, Zion. T isn’t necessarily the “best” singer who hits high notes all the time. But he has his exotic voice and gestures that dazzle people; so does Wonstein.  But his singing skills don’t put his rapping side in a weaker position. Though he mainly sings and raps in R&B and Boombap type of music, he rocks in Trap too. After watching this cypher video, I realized that not only does he sing and rap well, but also he understands and studies “music” itself. (Considering that he covered BTOB’s ballad track “Beautiful Pain,” it looks like Wonstein listens to many different genres of music.) Anyway, Koreans are now searching for his old videos and music, brimming YouTube recommendations with stuff related to him. This proves that they have been waiting for fresh music and artists for a long time. And I think Wonstein is the one who can satisfy them. Also, I’m sure that he can be more than “Show Me The Money Star” even after this season ends. So, make sure to check him out if you are curious about him. (Here is his self-made claymation music video of the 2019 album “Frankenstein” if you want to check out his old stuff. It’s pretty creative.) p.s. Wonstein debuted way back; he released his first mixtape in 2014.
