I think looks can be deceiving lol. Although there is much in common between the two. The longer I learn Lao the more I appreciate how much it is different. I am really thinking in terms of speaking the language with a Lao accent. I don't think Thai can really help you speak Lao any better. In fact, in many ways, I think it might make learning it more confusing for the Beginner.
