The Italian Ritual of "fare la scarpetta"

'Fare la scarpetta' is a phrase in the Italian language that’s close to the heart of everyone who has enjoyed a delicious plate of pasta with sauce. Meaning “make the little shoe,” it refers to the small piece of bread used to mop up the last of the sauce on your plate.Your fingers take place of the cutlery and move across the plate like little legs mopping up the last drops of sauce with your bread-shoe.  A good way not to waste any food and it's a wordless compliment to the cook. What curious table rituals do you have in your country?

I think I should add that doing scarpetta is not considered a good table manner. So, do it at home, but avoid it when eating out :)

ciao!

In Italy, who likes to eat abundantly, they say you're a 'buona forchetta' that means that you are a 'good fork'. I don't know what pupuse is. Is it a local dish of yours?
