Essay "Modern art = I could do that + Yeah, but you didn’t" Nowadays, more and more people deny the value of modern art. They consider that it looks really easy to repeat and doesn’t include a talent and hundred hours of work by the artist. So, is their opinion true or not? First of all, everybody can achieve success in the art without a special talent. You only need to have a good marketing strategy to have the ability to dictate what is art and what not. Power of advertising is incredible and might create a piece of art from everything, if you have money, of course. Moreover, people tend to trust influencers, bloggers and celebrities more than experts and they can persuade followers to believe that something is valuable. In addition, today we prefer performances to painting technique, personality of the artist is the crucial element of success, so, we think, that the story around the piece of art is more important than the art object. On the other hand, modern art doesn’t need to be technical and difficult. The paintings of the past were valuable because they could show reality with photographic accuracy. But now we have high quality cameras and don’t need them. So, now modern art is for rebels and innovators. They can create something new in the world where we can get almost everything. The sculpture of Fountain by Marcel Duchamp or Black Square by Kazimir Malevich have the undeniable advantage; they were the first black square and first fountain presented as a piece of art. We live in the other epoch, where ideas are more significant that result. In conclusion, I believe that modern art shouldn’t be evaluated by complexity and uniqueness. The real purpose of modern art is to create new ideas from existing things.
