Basic Italian Verbs
I'm trying to better my grammar in Italian, and I'm unsure of which verbs I should be learning. What are some basic Italian verbs I should know? Besides avere, essere, stare, fare, imparare, indossare, scrivere, leggere, conoscer, andare, diventare, parlare....just to name a few.It feels like I "know" like 50 verbs, but that's only because I speak Spanish. The conjugation seems like a cinch; I have encountered only a couple of irregular verbs, like avere, fare, stare and essere. I guess I just want to reassure myself that my ability in Italian is on the right track. My placement test puts me at A2 level, but I don't feel like I've reached that level.

=== part II
What next ?
After you learned some new verbs and some verbal voices,
just make flash-cards with substituting patterns like:
Mario ha // raccontato a // Francesca.
Now, you can use any of:
{dire, parlare (would be 'parlare con'), cantare, gridare, chiedere, rispondere, etc.}
as substitution for the text within // ... //, sometiomes you should also fix the
preposition that is needed, so that would be even miore fun.
All in all:
a) make verb categories related to MEANING
b) make sub-categories or other categories related to CONIUGAZIONE
c) invent some sentences for each category
d) use the other verbs in the same category, as substitution drills for your sentences.
This is at least how I would proceed when learning a new language,
and one of the methods I use teaching Italian or English.

I suggest you make categories of verbs, and learn approximately
from 4 to 10 verbs each week (unless you are doing an intensive course),
taking care of not studying at the same time verbs with similar meaning!

ritenere

trasportare, portare
EXP ::= expressions and giving informations
parlare, ridere, mimare, gridare, dire, cantare
mentire, dire bugie, raccontare, fare cenni, chiedere,
rispondere
BAE ::= body activity and expressions
bere, mangiare, danzare, saltare, correre,
camminare, applaudire, fare spallucce (to shrug),
vivere, guardare, sorridere, ridere, piangere
AWDA ::= actions with a direct aim

invitare, comprare, dire, pagare, cercare, tenere,
