I should use "have a second thought" or "give a second thought"? "It is one part of the weather that people generally do not____a second thought to." Help me to fill in. Thank ya!

The correct word here is 'give'. If you don't 'give something a second thought' it means that you don't attach much significance to it. Note that it is always in the negative. Don't confuse this expression with 'have second thoughts', in the plural, which means to begin to regret a decision you have made. For example, 'Mary said 'yes' when Peter asked her to marry him, but now she is having second thoughts. She's wondering whether he's the right man for her after all.' As you can see, they are similar expressions with very different meanings.

Hi, Linh. I believe the correct in this context would be to use 'give.' Here's a few examples from the Corpus of Contemporary American English: "She never gave them a second thought." "They generally don't give it a second thought." "None of them had a second thought about making a lifetime commitment to the Amish faith." ('have' past perfect) "Everyone worries about the surgery, but what they usually don't give a second thought to is the anesthesia, and that can be a tragic mistake." Hope that helps.
