持たせられた? 持たされた?
Hi guys I will be very grateful to anyone who can help answer my question.
「ジムから帰って、私は先輩達のかばんを持たせられた。[emoji][emoji] 」
This sentence can be translated to something like 'As we returned from the gym, I was forced to hold my senpai's bags." Correct? Is that right? However this sentence below ↓ also has the same meaning?
「ジムから帰って、私は先輩達のかばんを持たされた。[emoji][emoji] 」
Basically, I want to know what is the difference between 持たせられる and 持たされる? Do they both mean 'to be forced to hold [something]?
I also think that 持たせられる can also be the potential form of 持たせる (causative form of 持つ)、so it could also mean "to be able to make somebody hold [something]"?
so another example sentence, 「私が彼の後輩なのに今度は先輩が私のかばんを持たせられた。」
So this sentence could translated to something like -
"Even though I am his kouhai this time I was able to make my senpai hold my bag."
Correct? Have I translated that correctly?
I will be very grateful to anyone who can clarify all this for me!
Thank you!
