This saying had orgin from Thomas Gray's poem, "Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College" (1742): "Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise." · It must be applied only in very specific situations.when mama tells child ,don’t touch fire or else u will got hurt,he don’t obey and touches it due his ignorance.he get hurted ,then he gets knowledge what fire will do to him.that way it’s a bliss.mom says child abt wild animals, snakes etc will hurt you,if child obeys its bliss or if he is hurt ,he get the knowledge, its bliss.if the child became victim, ignorance is not bliss. because you need knowledge to be ignorant. What abt mama saying about ghosts, ignorant child sleeps well or else? Sometimes knowing too much hurts your head. ignorance is bliss, but a false bliss. If ignorance is bliss, there should be more happy people in this world. Knowledge is essential to survive and fulfill our aspirations and dreams but at times in some matters ignorance is bliss cause it saves you from a lot of heartaches and headaches. In what matter u want to be ignorant and in what matter u want knowledge is important. . For ignorance is not as dangerous as knowledge in the hands of humans becomes because humans mostly shows more interest on its harmful sides. Two contradictory sayings “Complete knowledge is bliss” , “Complete ignorance is bliss” . what u choose ? in between them is dangerous ,u know. Knowledge is never dangerous if employed properly.you must know where it is to be applied that gives bliss.

In contridactory sayings like 1.”Too many cooks spoil the broth. Many hands make light work”. 2. “Where there is a will, there is a way. Will is no skill”. the words when and where, are implied not specified and can be dangerously misinterpreted & implemented.but you should know where it is applicable.when you know where ?you are simply great. Think that these are situational truths and life a paradox. for a child it is bliss and for an old person it is not bliss to be ignorant. we love child for its ignorance ,we respect old for his knowledge.

Good question Benson! I beleive that ignorance could be a bliss in some cases, because as long as you don't know something; it can't hurt you, can it?....... Plus; knowledge teach you to think before you act, & that maybe prevent you to do the right thing!! -As sami said about children.. I beleive that growing up is an exchange matter*.. We lose innocence & become less blissful, in the other hand: we gain knowledge, compassion, & even become malignant :-p So yes ignorance could be a bliss, as knowledge could be an affliction (can we say that?) Anyways..... Peace out!!

Not knowing things (ignorance) leads to assuming things(believing) and when you assume something enough, it becomes reality, real as witches, sinners and saints.

I think ignorance is bliss to some extent. Like children, so innocent and happy, and unaware (think of Santa). But...If we were ignorant of everything, we wouldn't be anywhere. And be absolutely miserable. If you were ignorant of war, you'd be blissful, right? But now that you're not, you must find a way to stop it, so that there can be true bliss for everyone. Plus, some people just like to learn. I personally don't like to know the time because I don't like to be rushed, but when I do, it puts a healthy amount of stress on me (yes, stress can be healthy. Distress isn't.)
