To piggy back off of what Travis mentioned, rotation is often independent of another object whereas revolution is almost always "around something". So for example, the Earth rotates and reaches the same position every 24 hours, so it's in roughly the same position at 8 AM today as it is at 8 AM tomorrow morning. For revolution, it only makes sense if it is in relation to something else (in this case, the sun). So we would say that the earth revolves ** around the sun ** and reaches the same point every year. Similar but slightly different meanings. Hope this helps!

Luke and Travis gave some good definitions. I would add that 'spin' can have a meaning totally unrelated to 'rotate' or 'revolve'. When used in connection with news, politics or public relations, spin is a form of propoganda told from a biased point of view for the purpose of persuading public opinion for or against a particular issue or public figure.

They are all synonyms, so they technically mean the same thing. But "spin" is usually used when something is rotating quickly. Like a child "spinning around", or the washing machine on "spin cycle". "Rotate" is usually used for a stationary object thats rotating slowly, but "revolve" can also be used for an object in motion. For example "The Earth revolves around the sun".

For me, spin is seen on the washing machine. rotate is seen on the photo editor or office word, excel. revolve is used on satellite revolution around the earth. You learn a lot of words. I save your connection. I could go over them. Thank you for sharing.
