What's the difference between spouse and husband? I know these words have the same meaning, but why do English speakers sometimes say my spouse instead of my husband? For example, my spouse takes care of our kids. Does it have certain meaning? Thanks in advance!

Many people don't like using 'husband' or 'wife' because they're gender specific terms and the terms can carry other meanings held over from the past - traditionally a husband does this or acts this way, and a wife is presumed to act or behave a certain way as well. Saying 'spouse' or 'partner' is a way of ignoring or disregarding supposed gender roles.

They are the same thing , just people preferences. Another example would be people who say partner instead of boyfriend

Spouse is not gender specific, and can be used for both men and women whereas Husband defines specifically a spouse that is in fact male.

Most of the time you use spouse when you are being general. For example, a company that is hosting a work dinner might send out a memo that says “Bring your spouse” because they are talking to both men and women. I’ve never heard a wife say, “I love my spouse.” I’m not sure why anyone would use spouse when speaking about their own husband or wife.
