My teaching journey began in South Korea, teaching high school English for 13 years. Those years in the classroom shaped me both professionally and personally, giving me a solid foundation as a teacher and deepening my passion for education. Moving to New Zealand with my family, I brought with me the experiences and insights gained from my career in South Korea, and I’ve continued to build on that passion ever since. Teaching has been something I truly love and believe in. This commitment to education is what has driven me to continuously seek out new ways to reach and support my students. I have volunteered for 6 years as a news presenter doing translating at Korean Catholic Radio Station.عني كمعلّم
I taught high school students with Level 1 Teaching Licence in Seoul and after relocating to New Zealand, I operated an English Academy for seven years, where I worked with students from various backgrounds and helped them develop their language skills. Currently, I teach Korean language, literature, and history at the Auckland Korean School, where I support students who may struggle with Korean fluency, as many were born or raised in New Zealand. This role has been incredibly fulfilling, as I help them reconnect with their heritage and strengthen their language skills. With decades of teaching experience, I am skilled at identifying each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. My approach is to highlight their strengths while addressing and supporting any challenges they face. I prioritize using visual aids, like PowerPoint presentations, to create a multi-sensory learning experience that engages both visual and auditory understanding.
I also carefully consider each student’s age and previous learning experiences, tailoring lesson plans to meet individual needs.
