I've had lessons with Sherin for almost a year now. When I started I had just finished B1 and barely able to string sentences comfortably. Now, we typically have a conversation. I'm not fluent, but I'm very satisfied with my progress in no small part to Sherin. I think she is very good at gauging and adjusting to the student's level. When we started, we would read articles together and work on exercises. Now we have a full conversation every session. I noticed that she focuses on the areas of import and subtly pushes me toward refinement. For example, first we focused a lot on word order. At the same time, it was important for me to just get comfortable speaking, so other mistakes were overlooked. Now we focus on adjective declension. Word order is becoming second nature, and now I'm more mindful of using the right propositions/adjective endings. I highly recommend Sherin!

I have taken a total of 8 lessons with Sherin - all in conversational German. When I began, I was tongue-tied even with very basic German conversation. When Sherin asked me what my language learning goals were, I told her I just needed a teacher who would get me to “start speaking” in German. In this Sherin has helped me a lot. I still have a long way to go, but I feel less self-conscious now and don’t mind making mistakes. The classes have helped me develop a healthier attitude to german conversation and learning. Sherin has a calm, quiet and focused teaching style. She is subtly encouraging - no empty pep talks or false expectations. This suits my own personality really well so I got a lot out of our time together. After each class I received feedback and homework and she made sure that the lessons were still aligned to my needs. I would really like to return to Sherin’s classes - maybe after a while when I have progressed some more on my own. Thank you Sherin!
