I'm back! 我回来了！My earnings on italki are used to support my Palestinian colleagues who also teach on this platform. 🍉 在此平台的收入將用於援助巴勒斯坦教師。🕊️
I’m originally from a Muslim neighborhood in southwest Beijing, but I grew up living in multiple countries. Currently I'm in Tkaronto ("Toronto"), Turtle Island. I’ve dedicated my entire life to studying and teaching languages, and I recently completed a master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Toronto. In addition to teaching on this platform, I also work as a licensed healthcare interpreter.
我是在中外兩地長大的北京回民，畢業於多倫多大學語言系，研究生學位。除了語言教學外，我也是一名醫療口譯員與研究員。歡迎對語言學及語言習得感興趣的同學與我一起探討這些話題。語言學習與教學對我來說是人生的使命。我希望能透過科學有效的教學方法讓大家愛上語言學習，並與大家在學習語言的道路上一起前行。عني كمعلّم
♦ Personalization: Each lesson is planned around your needs because second/heritage language acquisition doesn’t have a “one size fits all” approach.
♦ Availability: Learning happens everywhere, not just in the classroom. I’m always here to help you, even when we don't have lessons. If you have any specific requests please let me know.
♦ I can teach Standard Mandarin (Putonghua), Beijing Mandarin (Beijinghua), classical/literary Chinese, American/Canadian English, Medical English, Medical Mandarin.

Language Interpreter Training Program (LITP) - Seneca College - 2020The Language Interpreter Training Program (LITP) is designed to train, at the college level, professional interpreters who can perform with a high degree of competence in the legal, health care and community sector. As a doctor who routinely interacts with Mandarin-speaking patients, Siyi/Sayeh has been indispensable in building my skills and confidence. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, a superb and creative instructor with a mastery of the colloquial and formal language of medical interviews. My initial goal was to get more experience role-playing patient encounters, and she went above and beyond to not only do that in a very realistic way, but to throw curveballs that really tested my skills. She is also a seemingly bottomless pit of language resources, both for medical and everyday conversation. Highly recommend for anyone in the medical field who is looking to (dramatically) improve their skills.
