I’m Danielle, and I’m an English teacher and a native speaker living in Houston, TX, in the United States.
I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, commonly known as a CELTA. I’m here on italki to help you improve your English in the way that works best for you.
Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a litigation paralegal, a writer, and an actor, so I’m prepared to help you communicate in a wide range of contexts, both spoken and written.
My interests include music, Shakespeare, history, law, linguistics, and football (soccer).
I enjoy running, cycling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles with my husband.عني كمعلّم
I really enjoy getting to know my students—not only in terms of their linguistic needs and capacities, but also as human beings with interests and experiences vastly different from my own who have a lot to teach me about life and about the world. I welcome diverse viewpoints and I appreciate honesty and humility.
Humility is extremely important when you’re learning, because learning involves making mistakes. I know this can be intimidating, so I will always try to create a safe and familiar space in which you can feel comfortable taking risks and trying new things in English, knowing that if you do make a mistake, I can help you turn it into an excellent learning opportunity.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
I prefer a communicative approach, so we’ll focus mostly on conversation if it’s a spoken lesson, and on your own writing samples if it’s a writing lesson. However, I'm a grammar and vocabulary nerd, so we’ll definitely take time to help you improve in these areas, as well as in pronunciation if and when that’s an issue.
The beauty of private lessons is that the student is the standard: we will always move at your pace, and focus on what’s important to you. If you don’t know what that is yet, we’ll have time to figure it out together as we move through the lessons, and we can tailor our approach to meet your needs as soon as they become apparent.موادي الخاصة بالتدريس
