I began teaching Japanese at a university in Mexico, but despite my best efforts, I was troubled by the fact that my students learned grammar but DID NOT LEARN TO SPEAK. I began to study again under a professional instructor and to think about "how to really learn to SPEAK Japanese." After that I re-designed my own teaching materials from scratch. Today, my classes are designed to be "efficient, and to help students learn to speak Japanese," and many of the students I have taught have become able to speak Japanese. In particular, my original shadowing materials based on Genki textbooks have been very popular among student.I currently teach Japanese online in more than 12 countries!عني كمعلّم
When I was teaching at a university, I was stuck in the university syllabus and produced "students who understood grammar well but could not speak."
Based on that experience, I have crieated classes that are "efficient and really help students learn to speak".
Specifically
-Original PowerPoint with many illustrations
-Projects that focus on summarizing and speaking.
-Efficient vocabulary study with Quizlet(a vocabulary study app)

Risa sensei has been the most wonderful, patient, lovely teacher over the last year. I've never been able to stick with learning a new language but learning with her I can't wait to learn more. And as somebody who really struggles to actually practice speaking a new language, her classes are perfect bc she puts emphasis on spoken language over learning a textbook.

Estoy increíblemente agradecido por mi experiencia aprendiendo japonés con Risa Sensei. No solo es una instructora paciente y comprensiva, sino que también presta atención a los detalles más pequeños, lo cual ha mejorado enormemente mi comprensión del idioma. He estado tomando clases con Risaさん por un año ya y puedo decir que es, no solo una excelente profesora de japonés, sino también una de las mejores profesoras en general que he tenido la oportunidad de conocer. Además de ser una gran persona con una personalidad muy amable y cálida, siempre he sentido que está comprometida con mi progreso a nivel individual en vez de sólo seguir un libro de texto. Recientemente me surgió un viaje de última hora a Tokio, y Risaさん ajustó sus lecciones para enseñarme lo más posible en poco tiempo. También ha sido muy paciente con mi falta de consistencia debido a responsabilidades laborales y nunca ha dejado de hacerme sentir motivada y bienvenida. Siempre termino mis lecciones sintiéndome inspirada, contenta y emocionada de seguir aprendiendo. Creo que esa es la señal más importante de un gran educador y ella se merece ese título por completo.

Estoy sumamente agradecido por tener a Risa como mi profesora. Es una persona sumamente generosa y realmente se preocupa por sus estudiantes. No importa el dia ni la hora siempre me recibe con la misma sonrisa y mucho animo para empezar la clase. Siempre se asegura de hacerme sentir bien y que no tenga miedo al comunicarme en Japones. Sus clases son sumamente entretenidas y siempre aprendo cosas nuevas.
