I taught high school English for seven years in a public school in China. Following that, I established my own training center, where I taught English to elementary school students, teenagers, and adults for eight years. Currently, I am working in a public school in the U.S. as a Mandarin aide, assisting classes from kindergarten to 12th grade. I also teach Mandarin online to international learners. Teaching is my passion, and I take pride in tailoring my methods to suit each student’s unique needs. My goal is to help you achieve success in learning Chinese. Teaching Content:
1. Pinyin: We’ll begin with Pinyin, the foundation of Mandarin pronunciation. By the end of this section, you’ll be able to pronounce any Chinese character using Pinyin confidently.
2. Words and Sentences: You’ll learn essential vocabulary for everyday life and how to construct sentences using these words, enabling you to communicate effectively.
3. Speaking Practice: Your spoken Chinese will improve significantly through engaging conversations on a variety of topics. We’ll simulate real-life scenarios, such as traveling in China, to enhance your fluency.

Shi Laoshi is professional and kind. She is great at explaining things. The lessons are well-tailored to my level. I always learn a few great new words to use from our Oral Chinese Practice lessons.

Ivy Shi is an excellent teacher, and her lesson was challenging, interesting and enjoyable. During the lesson she asked me a plethora of questions pertaining to a particular topic that I selected, and corrected my enunciation of certain words. I highly recommend Ivy to anyone wanting to improve their speaking and listening skills.

Ivy has been a great teacher. We are working from a textbook and review new vocabulary and sentences every week with listening and speaking skills. She is very professional. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.
