Rose

Rose was super patient with me today! I was experiencing some technical issues entering the classroom on my phone, so we ended up doing audio only (which was great at helping me focus more on my listening skills) and my brain just wasn't in it today, so I was struggling a lot. But Rose is always patient and encouraging, reassuring that I'm in no rush. Once I'm able to finally attempt a response, she then helps correct me and types out the sentence for me to read out loud a few times too. Thank you so much for your extra patience with me today!

I've always enjoyed my lessons with Rose, but I think this one has been my most favourite (so far!) We did learn some new words, and practiced sentences in the first half of the lesson. Then in the second, we had a casual conversation. This was really great in practicing my listening skills, as she spoke in Tagalog while I spoke in mixed English/Tagalog - trying to incorporate new vocab or practice sentence structures whenever I could. I felt super relaxed speaking with Rose, which is lovely because normally I'm super nervous trying to speak in Tagalog. But Rose is always patient, encouraging, and if there's anything I don't understand she clarifies until I get it ☺️

Another great session with Rose. We had more of a casual conversation where I could practice my listening skills more so I could become more comfortable hearing everything and understanding in real time. I always enjoy the casual-style conversations. The questions Rose asks always get me to think creatively, which pushes me into learning new vocab. And it pushes me to speak more so I can become more comfortable with my pronunciation. Looking forward to resuming our regular sessions soon! 😁

This lesson was so much fun! Rose really finds different types of activities to challenge me in every class. Today, we went over riddles; which I had never tried in another language before! I enjoy riddles in English, but adding the translation element to it made it harder, which I really enjoyed. I think it's such a fun way to learn new vocab as well as testing you on words that we went over before. I always look forward to my lessons with Rose because I always have a good time; and I didn't think I'd be having so much fun learning Tagalog 😁

Today we went over some short stories which I really enjoyed. I read the stories out loud, which was great for getting familiar with pronunciation, and building confidence speaking out loud. A lot of new vocab (which I always love!) and I enjoyed answering the questions about the story after. Looking forward to doing more activities like this (and then when I'm confident enough, write my own short story 🤭)
