My strengths are my own background as language learner since I know how one can learn a language depending on whether it is supposed to be used in social contexts or at school in more academic situations.

As a teacher I am encouraging, and try to activate my students to use as much Finnish as possible. People usually tell me they can be themselves in my company. This no stress state helps them to express themselves better in Finnish as the brain has no reason to activate the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze response) which would compromise higher brain functions. I have about 2000 hours of teaching experience, mostly online but also face to face.

Listening to native level language is also crucial - especially hearing the actual spoken language that natives speak! Spoken Finnish, for example, is quite different from formal Finnish. I'm an emphatic and patient teacher and I can adjust my speaking pace and style to any level. In my lessons, you will feel relaxed and safe. As a music teacher I know that a supportive atmosphere is vital for learning! I'm also more than happy to adjust the lessons to student's needs.
