Within the first few minutes of our trial lesson, it was clear Miriam is great at what she does. Her prompts helped me to identify goals and her paraphrasing allowed me to feel seen and understood. Less than 20 mins into our call and we were already discussing a practical approach to learning. I look forward to setting up my lessons for the future.

I had a super fun discussion all in Swahili with Mwalimu Victor! He ensured that I kept the discussion 100% in Swahili by helping me with words that I didn't know in Swahili or explaining things I didn't understand in another way so that I didn't have to resort to English. As a result, I was able to learn new words and news ways of saying things in Swahili. Mwalimu Victor's Swahili is very clear and very easy to understand. He also has great enthusiasm for teaching Swahili and his love for the language shines through. Asante sana kwa mazungumzo yetu, Mwalimu Victor! Shukrani sana.

I had a really positive experience learning with Rom. From the beginning, he took time to understand my goals and structured the lesson in a very clear and organized way. As a beginner, I felt comfortable because he explained everything step by step and made sure I understood before moving on. Rom is very patient and knowledgeable. He answers questions clearly and gives helpful explanations, especially with pronunciation. At the same time, he brings great energy to the class while still keeping a calm and focused atmosphere. I also appreciated how disciplined and well-prepared the lesson was; it felt structured but never rigid. Overall, the class felt balanced, supportive, and motivating. I’m looking forward to continuing my Swahili journey with him.

Xavery began teaching our elementary school age children about a year and a half ago. They knew no Kiswahili. He worked with them for about half an hour 2-4 times per week. They are now conversational. He is patient and engaging. He continually tries to think of new ways to explain and engage our children. He is encouraging and kind!

Great lesson, wonderful teacher! Allan makes the lessons applicable which makes me grow confident to use Swahili in my daily life. I have learned a lot of new words and expressions in just one hour. Mwalimu Grace is always punctual and so well prepared. We finished reading a story from last time, went over some reading comprehension questions, then moved on to watching a video about the Congo forest. It was very interesting.

Mwalimu Tina is an exceptional teacher. She has self-designed a curriculum that she trusts, merging several sources. But she is also adaptable. She can pivot to focus on topics you want to discuss. Best of all, I feel that she truly cares about her students’ progress. She is the only language teacher I have ever had who keeps notes on each of your lessons, sends a written reminder of homework and has a WhatsApp group for you to connect with her other Swahili students. 👍🏼

Another great Swahili lesson!! She provided an audio recording in Swahili along with the caption. We went over it today in class, and it was so helpful. Finding comprehensible input like this in Swahili can be difficult. It was nice to have quality audio that I can save and practice. She answered all my questions and helped me learn grammar and vocabulary in context. Agnes’ lessons help me grasp concepts quickly and o feel more comfortable with the language every time. I was so pleased that I am scheduling a second Swahili lesson this week in addition to my upcoming Gĩkũyũ lesson. 10/10!!

We've been learning Swahili with Lillian for months now, and she's been absolutely amazing! Her lessons are always so interesting and well-planned. She's got this knack for using a variety of materials to keep things fun and engaging. We've read everything from Swahili storybooks and grammar guides to interesting essays and dialoogues, so there's never a dull moment. On top of that, Lillian is a true professional. She's really caring and attentive to each student's needs. She takes the time to explain things clearly, and she's super patient with us as we practice our speaking skills. Honestly, I can't recommend Lillian enough if you're looking to learn Swahili in a way that's both fun and effective.

As a teacher, I recognize when someone excels in their role, and Mwalimu Jane truly does. Her lessons are marked not only by a high level of language instruction but also by engaging discussions about Swahili history and culture, all while fostering plenty of laughter. With her extensive knowledge, passion for teaching, and great sense of humor, she truly stands out. Keep up the great work!
