Are you new to learning English? 

In this class, we will
• Learn basic grammar, like present and past verb tenses

• Build your vocabulary with simple and useful words through interactive exercises

• Practice listening skills with easy-to-follow exercises

• Talk in everyday English conversations, focusing on topics like greetings, family, and daily activities

English 1: Beginners (A1-A2)

Are you tired of feeling that you're never improving, always at the same level and always using the same vocabulary and structures? 

In this class, we will:
 • Identify and apply intermediate grammar concepts like conditionals in speaking practice

 • Expand your vocabulary with words and phrases commonly used by fluent speakers

 • Interact with REAL English through podcasts, videos, news articles, and authentic materials

English 2: Intermediate (B1-B2)

Are you an advanced speaker of English but are lacking consistent practice? Do you feel like you have reached a plateau in your vocabulary? 

In this course, we will:
 • Unpack advanced grammar topics, such as complex sentence structures and idiomatic expressions

 • Immerse ourselves in challenging English materials, such as NPR, BBC news, podcasts, and more

 • Engage in discussions on diverse topics, from social issues to global news, encouraging you to share and articulate your opinions

English 3: Advanced (C1-C2)

Are you tired of feeling that you can't express yourself? Are you tired of only speaking about the same topics over and over again with no improvement? 

In this class, we will:
• Discuss a wide variety of topics with material. This can include the news (NPR, BBC, Engoo, adjusted to your level), videos, or picture description activities to push you to use new vocabulary and grammar.
 
• Correct and analyze grammar mistakes. This is so you can understand why and when we use certain grammar in English.

• Build vocabulary, slang, idioms, and cultural references to expand your lexical resources.

All materials and notes will be sent to you after the class for review. Homework may be given to prepare for the next class.

Improve your Speaking Fluency

Are you sick of not feeling understood? Are you unsure of how to pronounce the most basic words? 

In this class, we will:
• Start by learning the fundamentals of American English language by identifying the different consonants and vowels.

 • Master fast English, understanding reductions and linking for a more natural spoken flow.

 • Perfect concepts like intonation and rhythm, elevating your overall speaking proficiency.

 • Engage in diverse speaking and listening exercises designed to acclimate your mouth to the unique nuances of American English pronunciation.

American English Pronunciation - Accent Reduction

Do you feel frustrated trying to self-study for the FCE/CAE exam? Have you hit a wall in your learning? Are you confused about how to confront the exam? 

This class is for people serious about taking the FCE/CAE exam. Here's what you can expect: 
• I will send you a placement test to identify your strengths and weaknesses so we can immediately target these areas in our classes.

• We will be using a variety of materials (Cambridge certified exam books, mock exams, preparation material, etc.) to ensure you are familiar with the exam structure and PASS  with confidence. 

• Homework will be given and checked so you can create a consistent habit of self-study outside of class. This homework can be sample exam exercises, grammar, reading comprehension or writing. 

•  I will be providing feedback throughout our lessons, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, accuracy and fluency, and strategies whenever possible. 

• Finally, I will be motivating and supporting you throughout the process. I want you to PASS with flying colors and that motivates me to provide you with the highest quality service. 

As with any of the exams, it's important that you practice as much as possible on your own, too. Self-study is crucial for practice and preparation.

FCE/CAE Exam Preparation and Tutoring for Adults

I completed an online course at the UIC Barcelona focusing on resources for TEFL while completing the MEDDEAS Language Assistant Program in Spain.

TESOL certification program at the University of Florida. The Certificate Program entails 225 hours of instruction in class and the internship entails another 45 hours in class (270 in-class hours of instruction in total).  The TESL Certificate Program (18 credits) entails five core courses (each 3 credits for 15 credits): Introduction to Linguistics (LIN 3010); Introduction to TESL (LIN 3360); Second Language Acquisition (LIN 4721); Modern English Structure (LIN 3680); and Pronunciation for TES

I completed a Linguistics degree with a minor in Spanish at the University of Florida.

- Co-taught absolute beginner and beginner online English classes 4 times a week to a group of adult refugees alongside the Adult Education Coordinator 
- Directly translated Spanish to English to ensure students understood instructions and teacher assessed needs appropriately
- Tutored English to a Salvadoran refugee student twice a week using my own materials and instruction
- Recorded attendance of all classes and assisted in managerial tasks

- Led 18 English classes per week to Spanish students from preschool to 4th grade in a bilingual K-12 charter school
- Created engaging, age-appropriate activities to stimulate authentic English language use in the classroom using a variety of materials such as flashcards, music, balloons, and others. 
- Collaborated with fellow teachers to ensure students’ language goals are being continuously assessed and accomplished

- Created stimulating and engaging lesson plans using a variety of materials according to my students’ language needs and their parents’ expectations
- Incorporated online platforms and digital tools such as Google Slides, Zoom, and Kahoot! to create an engaging online learning platform and reach students in other countries during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Communicated with parents to ensure students’ language needs are constantly being met

- Prepared students to face the reading, writing, listening, and speaking portions of the YLE, KEY, PET, FCE, CAE Cambridge exams.
