The Super Bowl, one of the biggest nights in US sports — and the American cultural calendar — ended with victory for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday February 9.

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans. The game was played amid heavy security — and with President Donald Trump in attendance — just 41 days after a man drove a truck into New Year's partygoers on the city's Bourbon Street.

There were tributes before the game to the 14 people who were killed in the incident.

On the field, there was plenty for millions of viewers around the world to enjoy — although the game was not so enjoyable for Chiefs fans.

The Kansas franchise had won three out of the last five Super Bowls, but they didn't come close in the 59th edition.

Not even the presence of pop superstar Taylor Swift, who has spent all season supporting boyfriend Travis Kelce, a player with the Chiefs, could make a difference!

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said his players had to work together to win. "This is the ultimate team game. You can't be great without the greatness of others," he said.

The Chiefs' star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was kept quiet by the Eagles defense, denying him a fourth Super Bowl win.

A lot of the pre-game interest in the Super Bowl had centered around the traditional halftime entertainment, with rapper Kendrick Lamar performing just days after winning five Grammy awards.

His show didn't disappoint, with dancers in red, white and blue performing around a car onstage, while the rapper also performed his Grammy-winning song of the year "Not Like Us."

However, one of the many performers was detained on the field after unfurling a combination of the Sudanese and Palestinian flags with "Sudan" and "Gaza" written on it.

An NFL spokesperson told The Associated Press that the performer would be banned for life from all NFL stadiums and events.

Trump, meanwhile, became the first serving US President to attend the Super Bowl.

Drama On and Off Field as Eagles Win Super Bowl

Hi everyone!! It’s Timpika and you’re listening to Thai T la nid podcast EP 5!! As you know it’s the hottest time of the year in Thailand right now. It’s burning hot and many times, I have to say “ร้อนมากกกกกก แบบก.ไก่ล้านตัว” (slang).

Alright, some of you might know “ร้อนมาก”  already ร้อน means hot and มาก means very so ร้อนมาก means very hot.

And when you want to emphasize an adjective or adverb even more you can pronounce the word “มาก” longer (The longer the more emphasis). For example ร้อนมากกกกกกกก. Just like that.

But that’s not enough. When it’s a very very great degree. We can add the expression “ก.ไก่ล้านตัว” "gor-gài láan dtuua" or with a million of “ก”.

ก.ไก่ is the letter “ก” which is the final consonant of the word “มาก”
ล้าน = million 
ตัว = the classifier for letters, consonants, vowels, numbers, characters 

So when we say ร้อนมากกกกกก แบบ ก.ไก่ล้านตัว, it means the weather is sooooooo hottttttt! With a million of “t”

Have you ever accidentally gotten on a bus that was going out of service?

What do you expect would happen next? The driver would probably open the door and tell you to get off, and they wouldn't start driving until the bus was empty.

But that's not what happened to two tourists in Kyoto.

When they accidentally got on a bus that was going out of service in early June, the driver just closed the doors and drove away with them still on board.

And yes, he knew they were there.

But he was afraid to talk to them because they were foreigners, and he didn't know how to communicate with them.

As The Asahi Shimbun reported, the tourists — a man and a woman — got on the bus through the back door after all the other passengers exited at Kyoto station.

When they realized what had happened, the tourists asked the driver to stop, but he didn't understand them and just kept driving.

He later said he thought it would be best to deal with them at the bus terminal office.

When the driver wouldn't stop, the tourists called the police. An officer spoke to the driver over the phone, and the driver finally stopped.

They had been driving for around 20 minutes, traveling a distance of about 4 kilometers.

The West Japan JR Bus Company said: "We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Our employee training was insufficient, and our employee did not handle the situation correctly. We will thoroughly train our employees in the future."

Kyoto has a number of train and subway lines, but some of its most famous sites are most conveniently visited by bus — including Kiyomizudera temple in the east, and the gold-covered Kinkakuji temple in the northwest.
