Ad ogni modo, un buon momento per voltarci a guardare alle spalle e osservare cosa abbiamo fatto durante quest'anno che volge ormai al termine; e una buona opportunità per prefissarci degli obiettivi per il prossimo anno che sta per iniziare. はい、こんにちは。今日はポッドキャストの22回目です。すっかり暖かくなりました。日差しが強いので、外に出る時は日焼け止めをつけています。スウェットを着て寝ると少し暑いですが、Tシャツだとまだ寒く感じるので、夜は何を着るか迷います。毎日の飲み物も、温かいものより、冷たいものを飲むようになってきました。

Hi, this is podcast episode 22. It's all warmed up. The sun is shining, so I wear sunscreen when I go outside. It's a bit hot when I sleep in a sweatshirt, but it still feels cold in a T-shirt, so I'm not sure what to wear at night. I also have started to drink cold drinks every day instead of hot ones.

暖かくなると、出かけたくなりますね。今日は午前中のレッスンで、海の話をしました。子供の頃は、どの国の人もよく海に行きます。海の近くに家や別荘がある人もいますし、国内や海外のビーチに旅行に行く人もいます。「別荘」とは、休みの間だけ利用する家です。私も子供のとき、よく海に行きました。東京の近くの海はあまり綺麗ではないので、そのときは海があまり好きではありませんでした。浅瀬にはクラゲがたくさんいて、よく刺されました。「浅瀬」とは、海の浅い部分です。その後、いろいろな国のビーチに行きました。バリ島の海は青くて、水が透明で、とてもきれいでした。シドニーのボンダイビーチは、人が多くて賑やかでした。ロサンゼルスのサンタモニカビーチは、空がピンク色で驚きました。

The warmer the weather, the more you want to go out. Today, in the morning lesson, we talked about the sea. As children, people from all countries often go to the sea. Some people have houses or Bessou near the sea, while others go on trips to national or international beaches. A 'Bessou (holiday home)' is a house that is only used during holidays. When I was a child, I used to go to the sea a lot. I didn't like the sea then because the sea near Tokyo is not very clean. There were many jellyfish in Asase and I was often stung. 'Asase (shallows)' are shallow parts of the sea. I then went to beaches in different countries. The sea in Bali was blue and the water was clear. Bondi Beach in Sydney was crowded and busy. Santa Monica Beach in Los Angeles was amazing because the sky was pink.

海は国や地域によって全然印象が違うので、面白いですね。レッスンでも、ときどき生徒さんが、旅行に行ったビーチの写真を見せてくれます。どの海も特徴的です。日本で一番有名なビーチリゾートは、沖縄です。ダイビングをする人に人気があります。沖縄は日本の一番南で、台湾の近くにある島です。私はいつか、南米と南ヨーロッパのビーチに行ってみたいです。海以外にも、活火山とか、氷山とか、普段は見られない自然の景色を見てみたいですが、そこまで行くのが大変そうですね。「活火山」とは、１万年以内に噴火をしたことがあって、現在も煙が出ている火山のことです。「氷山」は北極や南極にある大きな氷の塊のことです。

If you're doing online dating in the English-speaking world, you might see people talking about their "icks."

This is a slang word — icks are things that give you "a sudden feeling that you dislike someone" or are no longer attracted to them, according to the Cambridge Dictionary.

Icks are not always really big things. Being rude to an employee at a store, for example, might be an ick for someone, or eating with your mouth open.

People will often say they "got the ick" when they noticed something about a person that made them feel they were no longer attracted to them.

If they get to that point, it may be hard for them to feel attracted again!

If you're looking through dating profiles on an app, the most common ick is people who are negative or bitter.

That's according to a survey for Forbes Health. One thousand Americans who had used a dating app in the last year were asked about their dating habits.

And about 70% said people who are negative or bitter in their bios, perhaps about a previous relationship, give them the ick.

Other common icks include people with edited photos, people who are too interested in their possessions, and people with bad spelling or grammar.

And when using the apps, daters often make their decisions quite quickly.

According to the survey, the average person takes about two-and-a-half minutes to make a decision about whether they like a person or not.

So what makes daters attractive to others? Having a profile that shows a good sense of humor is a good thing, according to 80% of people.

The same number said they like people who have hobbies and interests, while many others like people who are interested in travel — or who show a pet in their photo!
