最近在中国年轻人中间刮起了一阵新热潮，那就是去寺庙烧香，求神拜佛。我们一起来听听看是为什么吧？
游客：“马上要毕业了嘛，然后就是希望自己能够顺顺利利的，未来都是一路平坦的。嗯，就是这么一个比较平凡的愿望。”
记者：“上班和上学之间你会选择哪个？我身边的这些年轻人，他们选择的是来上香。今天是周二工作日，北京还下着雨，并且降温了10度。我的右边很多人在排队点香，我的左边很多人正在上香。寺庙游现在是中国平台搜索最火爆的。不但是北京的雍和宫、灵隐寺、九华山，吸引了好多好多的年轻人。很多人真是来寺庙上香比上学还认真。他们为什么沉迷于寺庙呢？那我们就来听听年轻人的答案。”
游客：“就是大家可能最近压力都比较大，然后就是有一些东西，可能觉得自己虽然已经很努力了，但是也希望借助一些神佛的力量。对，就是所以（来寺庙的年轻人）还蛮多的。像平时可能会心里面比较焦躁一些，那来到这块可能还是会感觉比较平静。因为这块所有人都是抱着一个比较虔诚的心来的嘛，所以能感觉到这里的人都是非常虔诚的。

Concluido en 1700, el Parián fue un mercado de élite en el que se comerciaban principalmente los productos llegados de Filipinas a través de la Nao de China. En la parte exterior se estableció un grupo informal de comerciantes conocido como “San José”. La zona circundante al Parián era insalubre, llena de perros y excrementos humanos. En 1828 el Motín de la  Acordada saqueó y dañó el Parían, tras lo cual los comerciantes lo abandonaron. Finalmente fue desalojado y demolido el 27 de junio de 1843.

El 22 de mayo de 1813 la plaza fue bautizada como Plaza de la Constitución. La razón fue un acto de lealtad del virrey Félix María Calleja hacia la recién instaurada Constitución de Cádiz y la Corona española, con ello se buscaba contrarrestar el movimiento independentista.

Tras la independencia de México, la Plaza de la Constitución fue escenario de los siguientes actos políticos importantes:

El 27 de septiembre de 1821, el Ejército Trigarante hace su entrada triunfal al Zócalo. En el contingente de 16,134 efectivos se encontraban Agustín de Iturbide, Vicente Guerrero y Antonio López de Santa Anna. Tras la entrada, se celebró una misa de acción de gracias en la Catedral de México y se entonó el himno Te Deum. Con dicho episodio se dio por consumada de la Independencia de México.

En 1866 se creo el Paseo del Zócalo como alternativa al proyecto inconcluso de Lorenzo de Hidalga. La estructura del jardín contó con 72 bancos, fresnos y lámparas iluminadas con hidrógeno.

En 1864 el emperador Maximiliano de México quiso concluir el proyecto de Lorenzo de Hidalga. En esta ocasión la columna iría acompañada por los héroes de la independencia y por una Victoria Alada en su cima. Debido a la ausencia de Maximiliano, la emperatriz Carlota fue la encargada de colocar la primera piedra el 16 de septiembre. El monumento nuevamente quedó inconcluso y actualmente es ocupado por  el asta bandera.
