Debt (noun): a sum of money that is owed or due. Indebted (adjective): owing someone something (usually money). (Often we use indebted to someone) Example: I have a debt of $1000. I need to pay my debt. (It can take a plural form too: I have 3 debts to pay off) After my parents paid for my university tuition I was indebted to them. People who are indebted may find it difficult to get approval for a credit card (I could also say: People with debts may find it difficult to get approval for a credit card)
