As I mentioned before, one of my passions is cars. However, it is said that recently young people haven't showed much interest in cars. Now is an aging society with a declining birthrate, so this tendency might be normal in a way. I came across interesting research studying the needs for mobility and I would like to share it here. This survey was conducted among the young generation in Germany, China, France, America and Japan. The result showed that many young people realized that cars are a must-have item. In the case of Germany, 54% of young people between 18 and 34 years old consider cars as a symbol of their status which is twice higher than people over 45 years old. 67% of them in urban areas consider cars as a symbol of their fame but on the other hand that trend only accounts for 49% of people living in small towns and in the countryside. Many people are looking forward to future new technologies, one of them being self-driving vehicles. They think that future cars should not only be a safe mean of transportation but also a nice space where they can relax and work. Another highly anticipated technological breakthrough is the artificial intelligence [AI] assisted driving systems. 74% of people between 18 and 34 years old expect that an AI assistant will provide them new services that’ll help them find tourist attraction, restaurants, gas and charging stations. Such kind of service will also help drivers find a free spot on a parking lot and introduce message from others. Additionally, an AI travel assistant is welcomed in most countries. The article said that cars might be considered one of the highest digital appliances for young people in the future. Personally, I really hope that the cost of eco-friendly cars will decrease in the future because it's currently too high and not affordable for many people.

There are some future technologies that they expect. One is a self-driving system, as they believe future cars should not only be safe transportation but also spaces where they can relax and work. Another is an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant system for cars. Seventy-four percent of respondents aged 18 to 34 expect that AI assistants will provide services to help them find tourist attractions, restaurants, gas and charging stations, check the status of parking lots, and relay messages from others. AI trip guidance is welcomed in most countries. The article suggested that cars might be considered high-tech electrical appliances for young people in the future. Personally, I really hope that the cost of eco-friendly cars decreases in the future, as they are currently too expensive and difficult for many people to buy.
