Simply because it wasn't pelican doesn't mean it was human flesh. <em>Many</em> foods that are not pelican are not human flesh. 

How did he know it was human flesh?

Do we know that all kinds of pelican taste the same? Perhaps he ate brown pelican, American white pelican, <em>Pelecanus erythrorhynchos </em>on on the island, and the island and American white pelican, <em>Pelecanus erythrorhynchos.</em>

Perhaps the restaurant was out of pelican that day, and, seeing that he was blind, decided they could get away with serving him pemmican instead of pelican.

It seems to me that he was rather hasty about committing suicide.

"You're a hard man to please Mr. Smith." Well, this stuff is <em>important</em>, Aegis. I want to be prepared. I just never know when I might get blinded, castaway on a desert island, return home, and order the Pelican McNuggets at McDonalds. I certainly don't want to commit suicide if I don't have to, just because McDonalds goofs and gives me Elephant McNuggets when I ordered Pelican McNuggets.

3 months ago, he went to an island with his loved one, a flock of pelicans attacked them, he managed to kill some of the pelicans but finally, he got blind and the loved one was torn to die. He was all alone, ate whatever he found to survive until one day he got rescued and hospitalized for recovery.

As soon as he's out of the hospital he went to a restaurant to order a pelican, he went home then kill himself because the horrifying question that had been haunted his mind was answered. It was not a pelican meat that he had eaten on the island, but his lovedone's....
