AIDS TO SUCCESS. On Language Learning.

What do think about this 4 ingredients to succeed on language learning?

MOTIVATION.  You need an incentive. Students with high motivation generally do best.

HUMILITY.  Don't expect too   much of your self- mistakes are inevitable, especially at first. people are going to laugh, so keep sense of humor. You're like a child learning to walk often you stumble, but you just have to get up and try again.

PATIENCE.  For me, the first three years were difficult and at times I felt like giving up, after that it start to gets easier. You don't think you've made progress until you look back.

PRACTICE. A regular  routine will help you to became fluent in the new language. Try to practice every day, even if for just a few minutes. Since it is the most important rule to make progress.

Here's what I apply to achieve anything I want in life, including learning languages

Motivation - Discipline - Habit

There is another key point that I want to share with you: TIME.

If you are working all day long and hardly spare sufficient time to learn and practice a language, I consider you have no way to succeed in that language even you have all factors listed above as Diter enumerated.  That means sometimes you must learn what to "sacrifice" in your lifetime and understand what you must invest in your learning, which suggests money, effort or time.

I definitely agree with your list.

You need to be okay with feeling uncomfortable when learning a new language. It's okay to make mistakes. Just dive right into learning, that's my philosophy.

It's a great list, Diter !

I would add fun to the mix. If my language meaning isn't fun and stimulating to me, it makes it so much harder for me to show up every day and get my work done and make progress.

And making sure to engage with fun language exchange partners, friends and teachers helps so much too.

It's a really good list, Diter.

There is only one thing, I would add to it - time. Yes, free time to make all this come true. That's why we need another list of things we spend a lot of our time on without any purpose or reason - the " f*ck it " list. And we have to make sure these two lists are absolutely different, otherwise it's not gonna work)))
