Sudeep...

Where do you get your information from?
You are always coming up with novel and interesting pieces of information, many of which I have never heard of.

On the topic of pineapples... Some people like to add pineapple pieces on a pizza (called a Hawaiian pizza).
And some people think it is crazy.
Personally, I like it.

Great topic again Sudeep... always keeping things interesting and even entertaining... well done...

Thank you very much for your valuable comments and some interesting information. Thanks for letting me know about your liking towards this fruit as well as you favourite one:)

Richard, It's from cyber world, maybe a random fish in a big ocean:) Thank you, Richard. Your appreciation really motivates all the learners as well as all the users who are contributing to this language hub:)

Laura, I think Pineapple has been derived from the word piña . But I don't know why they add apple to it as it no way looks like an apple or it tastes like it!:) By the way, I heard of a drink called "piña colada". Is it a popular drink in Spain?

Aegis, though the tomato is a fruit, in my place, it is considered as a vegetable. I know that in the western world, tomato is consumed mostly in the salad but in my place, it is mostly used in different dishes for a bit sour taste.:)

Ah yes, We say Ananas too :) interesting...When I eat Ananas, my mouth burn a bit...I ate Ananas several hours ago and still my mouth is burning...

We say to the fruit of ''orange' in Persian': ''Porteghal'' ...and some people think it is a country not fruit :)

Also there are some weird names for some planets in Persian...For example ''borage'' in Persian: ''Gol Gav Zaban'' that means flower+cow+tongue !!! I can't understand the relationship between them!

Pineapples are tasty. My favorite fruit, however, is the apple and out of all of the apples, the Granny Smith is my favorite.

Sudeep, you missed off Irish in your list of languages. In Irish, pineapple is "anann", which is a variation of the same word.
