And that made me realise that "a lot" has an abundance of<em> </em>synonyms. There are a myriad of words that can express that there's a great deal of something. Some are neutral, some are positive, some negative or only used with a certain kind of words. You can have oodles of noodles and gobs of money. You can have a mountain of work and a heap of clothes to wash. A buffet can offer a smorgasbord of different dishes. And when everything goes wrong, you might have a spate of mishaps in life. There's really no end of words expressing a large amount.
