Apollonia in "The Godfather" Firstly if you don't know the plot of "The Godfather" and you would like to read/watch it in the future- DON'T READ MY NOTEBOOK. SPOILERS. "The Godfather" is one of my favourite books. I really enjoy film based on it either. One of the characters there is Apollonia. For those who haven't read the book or don't remember her, Apollonia is an Italian girl who married Michael Corleone when he was hiding in Italy after killing Sollozzo, one of the head of families, and a policeman. To my mind, Apollonia was the only real love in Michael's life. She was killed by the opponents of Michael. I was thinking how her life would be if she hadn't been killed. I imagine that Michael would take her to USA to his family. She would give birth to a few sons and daughters. But I think she would be lonely there. Her family would lived far away from her and they would be too poor to see her. What is more, she didn't know English and not everybody from Corleone family( I mean the whole "clan" with its soldiers etc.) speaked Italian. She could speak to her mother in law and Sonnie's wife, but every woman needs friends more or less in her age. Michael could love her like no one in the world, but he couldn't spend his whole time with her, especially when he became be a godfather. But not only Apollonia's life would be different. Kay Adams would never be with Michael and maybe she would met a man who really loved her instead. Nevertheless, Apollonia died and that's the way the author planned it. I need to believe that the book would be much worse if she stayed alive.
