is that right and is this right., not so much of a big difference,, if you are holding a paper and trying to let someone correct the spelling or the sentence itself on the paper,, you would use, is this right? or is this correct? and is that right?.. when you ask someone and wanted to know his or her answer, you can confirm it with is that right?.. example. i wrote the spelling of rendezvous(meeting place) in this piece of paper, is this right? ,=) and another example, i heard you will be going to the concert tonight, is that right? see the difference.. hope this helps..

Was that right? (言った時) Is that right? (言う時) When asking about something you said, you must ask: WAS...? When asking about something you are about to say you ask: IS.....?
