No. There is no such thing as Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. This refers ONLY to the writing system, the characters. 1. Traditional Chinese characters. 2. Simplified Chinese character. Around 1955 the writing system was simplified in Mainland China for reasons now beyond anybody's understanding. Thus you see simplified characters from the Mainland, while Taiwan and Hong Kong still use the traditional ones.

Before 1949, all Chinese use Tranditional Chinese. After that, Simple Chinese is only used on China mainlan and Tranditional Chinese is used in Taiwan, Hongkong, Macau and overseas Chinese communities. Today, some people on China mainland repeat to use Tranditional Chinese.

There are many differences between Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, not only in the patterns of the characters, but also in the semantics, pragmatics and syntax. In fact, the sinplifed Chinese evolves from the Traditional Chinese, so the relationship between them is more like that between the early English (that is the early modern language, middle english, and old english) and the modern English.
