Who are we mistaken? Is it correct? There's a line in the song "Zombie" which runs like this : And the violence causes silence , Who are we mistaken? I feel as if something is missing in the last phrase, like "Who are we mistaken ABOUT?" in the meaning "to be we wrong about sb" So, tell me please if the song's line is correct or whether it was written like that for the rhythm's sake. Thank you in advance :)

I really think all it needs is a comma, and commas can't be sung: "Who are we, mistaken?" This song has to do with the violence of the IRA and the perception of that and how it reflects on the Irish people. The meaning is 'what must people think about us?' or 'why are we doing what we are doing'

it's absolutely true mistake sb for sb else means we confuse sb with sb else so in that question who are we mistaken means who are we confused with. for example we can say I confused him with his sister because they look so much alike. or when sb asks you if you are sb else you tell him back: I think you are mistaking me for sb else or who do you mistake me for!? or you ask yourself who am I mistaken for?.
