The sky bent its arc? I'm reading a book in which its narrator looks at the sky on the deck and says, "The sky bent its arc over us, clear and bright." I have a difficulty in imagining what she says. Does anybody have a clue? Thanks in advance.

What a lovely expression! It means the clear and bright sky felt like a gigantic roof above their heads. If you still don't get the picture you might need to look up the word "firmament".
