Are the five sentences with "Ving form" gerund or present participle(adj.)? research work updated 1. Please help to correct my 4 sentences, and the thought I assume the Verb -ing form in all the examples is used as gerund). I really want to know "Getting there" is acceptable? Because we often says sentence(3) below "to get there" to describe a status (be there/arrive there) and "get there" is like a Non-durative Verb to me. After referring to some Grammar websites, I think the possible reason why "getting there" works in sentences below is that "getting there" is a gerund. Am I correct? I made up 4 sentences as below: (1).I spent one hour "Getting" there. (getting =gerund = noun) (2) "Getting" there took me one hour. (Getting =gerund = noun) (3) It took me one hour "to get" there. (to get = infinitive =noun) - (4). "Getting up" early is difficult. (Getting =gerund = noun) 2 Is there any examples that "getting" is used as adjective(present participle)?
