Be careful using the phrase "pick me up". If you use it as a noun as in, "I need a pick me up", or "let me give you a pick me up", then it means something to lift up your mood or make you feel better.
In this fashion, it can refer as well to alcohol or illegal drugs.
However, if you use the verb/phrase "pickup" it can have a sexual connotation. For example, many times young men say to each other, "let's go to the party and see if we can pick up any girls." This is a split infinitive verb as in "to pick up". The next day, the young men might be asked by their friends, "were you able to pick up any girls?"
It can also refer to a casual date or chance sexual encounter. Example: "I met him last night. He was just a pickup." Or, "I was never serious about her. She was only a pickup."
Another very vulgar example is sometimes prostitutes say to potential customers on the street or in a club, "hey, would you like to pick me up?"
Use caution with these phrases!
