Bisaya is NOT low class compared to Tagalog. No language or dialect is inferior of another. "Bawal Mag-Bisaya Nakamamatay" is written in Tagalog. If I will translate this in English it means "Don't Speak Bisaya its Deadly" (this phrase basically threatens your life if you speak Bisaya). There are just some Tagalog speakers who feel that they are superior than that of Bisaya speakers. ( I think those Tagalog speakers who feel this way didn't go to school or didn't listen to their Filipino teacher.) * ~ What? haaaaahhhh!!!my fellow countryman why we are saying this. as far as i concern any dialect that speak in our country should be proud of.it's funny that all of us making fun of it when we heard someone who speak bisaya in metro.and giving other interpretation or meaning the way they speak.i think using bisaya for tv program should be stop they making our bisayan brother and sister funny to the eyes of other people.this dialects and people are not low class infact bisayan people speak english fluently. i know they have accent when theyuspeak tagalog but i never use it agains then to make fun.i try understand them and help them.thats all i know i have a bisayan, ilocano, muslim blood i am proud of it as i proud to be Filipino. cowboy...

I think it's because in TV dramas, housemaids are often played as being a Bisaya. Oftentimes, they are made to speak English and their English is so bad.. But in reality, not all Bisaya doesn't speak English well. I think we are better than some native Filipino speakers. ^___^ "Bawal Mag-Bisaya Nakamamatay" it's an expression.. the translation would be "Bisaya is prohibited. It kills."

Hi! Tagalog native speakers specially in Manila speaks pure Tagalog and their accent is different from other Tagalog regions. While Visayans cannot speaks pure Tagalog and sometimes they are mixing Visayan dialect into Tagalog. Actually Visayans are not considered as low class people, but because the way they speaks Tagalog you can easily recognize that they are Visayans. "Bawal Mag-Bisaya Nakamamatay" This sentence is also Tagalog and the meaning is 'speaking in Visayan is prohibited it's fatal.
