Hi! I’m Reuben, a young and enthusiastic linguist from the UK. I’m a friendly and approachable person with a passion for languages. My dream is to travel the world and bring my work as a language tutor with me! I have always been fascinated by the Mediterranean and Greece in particular, so in the winter of 2020/2021 i decided to teach myself τα νέα ελληνικά as a way to connect with the country’s people and culture. I love learning about other cultures so I’d love to talk about your country and its history, traditions and especially its food. I am searching for the country which has the best food! In my free time I love reading, cooking and keeping fit.

Ich als Lehrkraft

I believe language learning is a joy. Languages are a gateway to so many opportunities, including the discovery of interesting content in the target language. I thus believe that teacher - student dialogues should likewise be interesting and motivating for the student. I do not believe in harsh criticisms and want to create a relaxed and friendly environment. Every language has its own nuances and English is no exception, but I have a deep appreciation for grammar and linguistics as I will be studying languages myself at university in the near future. know that speaking a foreign language can be scary but I promise, I don’t bite!

Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil

I believe that the majority of language learning is input based. Through listening and reading, a student will acquire a level of understanding and comprehension in the foreign tongue and I will guide and coach this process. But understanding is only half the battle, what about speaking? That’s where I come in. I will pose open ended questions to stimulate interesting and realistic discussions whereby the student can begin to express them-self. If gaps appear in vocabulary or grammatical errors are made, I will never interrupt the student but rather choose a moment afterwards to provide detailed explanations which allow the student to fully grasp some of the unusual aspects of English.

My lesson with Reuben was lovely! He is one of the best people with whom I got to have a conversation here on Italki! He is very cool, open minded and his teaching skills are irreproachable. Today was my second lesson with Reuben and I have learnt a lot from it. Reuben is a good mentor for language learning as he personally has a genuine passion and interest in languages. Definetely recommended if you want to improve your English.
