Hey! My name is Lygia, and I teach personalized one-on-one language lessons. Though I teach general courses, my specialization is LSP (Language for Specific Purposes)
This means I create tailored courses for those who have a specific focus in mind! Whether it's advancing from a level where you feel stuck, preparing for an interview, migrating, regaining fluency when you feel you've forgotten a lot, using the language at work, chatting with in-laws, traveling, understanding your favorite songs and books—anything!
For some students, this means we will study only a handful of topics. For others, it means learning the whole language from where you are, but focusing more on certain topics.Ich als Lehrkraft
I tailor my methods to each student but with most of my students, I dedicate a great part of the lesson to his/her output. I like to learn about my students' interests and connect my lessons to them, helping students use the vocabulary and grammar they learned the way they will use it in real life!Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I teach students of all levels in Portuguese, and intermediate-level students and above in English.
I've lived and worked (both online and in person) in various countries, such as Guatemala, Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Turkey, Hungary, and Sri Lanka. Lygia has been great after three lessons. She was more than willing to meet me where I am at with my Portuguese learning and consistently asks for input on specific things that I want to cover. She is very knowledgeable about the linguistics side of things and because she is fluent in portuguese, spanish and english has been able to effectively relate all three to help me understand topics better. She is personable and has graciously been flexible with schedule when she was able. I highly recommend taking classes with Lygia!
