My name is Elvira. I'm a certified Spanish and English as a Second Language teacher. I have worked with adults and young students in Belgium, Spain, and South Korea. I currently live in South Korea, where I'm also learning the local language.
I was born and raised in Guatemala, so I have a Latin American accent. I moved to the United States when I was 15 years old, and that is where I learned English for the first time as a high school student. I'm pretty familiar with the process and challenges that come with learning a new language. Therefore, I decided to become a Spanish and English teacher to make people's experiences with these languages as rich and enjoyable as possible.Ich als Lehrkraft
As a teacher, I put myself into my students' shoes as often as possible. Would I have been interested in certain topics as a teenager learning English? As an adult learning a new language now, would a boring lesson keep me motivated to keep learning? I like to employ communicative language teaching, which focuses on getting the student to acquire the tools they would need to interact with those around them on a daily basis. I use activities such as role-playing and games during lessons. My goal is to create a low anxiety environment for students, where they can feel free to make mistakes while learning and have fun and enjoy the process.Mein Unterrichtsmaterial

I don't know how I got so lucky! Elvira is a patient and kind teacher that continues to encourage me as a struggle through conversation. I tend to make a lot of errors within speaking- but she has never been annoyed or upset at my errors!

By far the best lesson I've had. It was a good blend of academic
learning the "formula" for future/past tenses and conversation in Spanish. Time flew by and I feel much better with my level after the lesson.
