Hi there! My name is Sara and I´m passionate about language learning: I can Speak Spanish (my first language), English, Chinese and a bit of Portuguese.
I studied a Languages and Literatures degree during undergrad in Granada, Spain, and then I left to the US, to Chicago, for my Master´s degree, where I specialized in translation and foreign language teaching.
I love traveling, reading, and Tv shows. I have traveled to about twenty countries so far, and the next one in my list is Nepal. When it comes to books, my favorite genre is science fiction, and one of my favorite book series is ¨The Three Body Problem¨by Liu Cixin. I like to make my time with students as engaging as possible. During our first lesson, we’ll have an informal chat to assess your level of proficiency, and we’ll talk about your language learning goals (wether you are preparing for an exam, looking to improve your speaking…etc) and your learning style (we want to make your learning experience as comfortable as possible, so things like having homework assignments or wether I speak in your target language the whole time or not are some of the things that we’ll discuss). After that, I’ll prepare materials that adapt to your specific needs to use during our meetings.Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
Here is an example of what a lesson with me will look like:
- We’ll start by reviewing what we learned in our last session with Kahoot
- I’ll briefly introduce new content and then we’ll work through several activities for you to assimilate the new information (an example would be a version of the game “Cluedo” with which you’ll practice the simple past)
- Finally, we’ll use some of our time to work on speaking, so we’ll talk about something that interests you (you can show me your pets and introduce them to me, or we can plan your next trip to Spain together, anything you like!).Mein Unterrichtsmaterial
